The Simpsons' Apple spoof video hits the web, makes up for lost time
Obsessable News Feed —
The Simpsons unleashed a volley of satirical shots at Apple last night, and the video is up at Hulu. Apple products have been such a cultural phenomenon since the advent of the iPod that we're surprised it's taken the show's writers this long to get around to syphoning some laughs, but they covered every missed joke opportunity of the past few years in just three minutes. Steve Jobs, the 1984 commercial, the iconic white earbuds, the Genius Bar -- nothing was spared, so take a gander at the embedded video below for a perfect Monday remedy of successive guffaws. Mapple, er, Apple News
Know It All —
The eminently parodyable, parodied: The Simpsons go to the Apple, er, Mapple store.
Perhaps more serious: Linux for the iPhone.
The Simpsons Apple spoof likely has many wondering what a “myCube” is
VentureBeat —
I haven’t watched The Simpsons in ages. I guess I just find it hard to relate to a show that I found funny when I was eight years old. But I was shocked to learn that in its 20 seasons, the show hadn’t really mocked Apple before — until last night.
In an episode titled, “Mypods and Boomsticks,” the Simpson family travels to the new “Mapple” store in Springfield. It’s filled with “myPods,” “myPhones” and a “Brainiac Bar.” Lisa Simpson is sad because she can’t afford any of the products, so she tries to buy some “myPhonies,” fake earbuds so people thinks she has a ...
Bad News for Microsoft: Windows, IE Net Usage Dip Lower
SitePoint —
Just a day after TV’s The Simpson’s hilariously mocked Apple, the Cupertino, California-company is having the last laugh as the Internet share for their operating system is at a all-time high, at the expense of Windows, which has sunk to an all-time low. According to the Apple 2.0 blog, the Mac’s share of web hits reached almost 9% and set a record for the month of November.
Windows, meanwhile, sunk below 90% of Internet usage by operating system for the first time. Internet Explorer also sunk below the psychological barrier of 70% to 69.78% for the first time in Net Applications’ tracking survey. Though Windows Vista ...
The Simpsons Takes Aim at Apple
TidBITS: Mac News for the Rest of Us —
As any self-respecting Apple user/Simpsons fanatic should know by now, the most recent installment of The Simpsons indulged in a healthy serving of Apple satire. If you don't follow The Simpsons religiously, you'll want to check out the show's 427th episode, "Mypods and Boomsticks," which begins and ends with a slew of Apple jokes, focusing on Lisa Simpson's newfound love for everything "Mapple."
When the Springfield Mall unveils a new Mapple Store, the Simpsons find themselves perusing shelves full of Mypods, Myphones, and mysterious Mycubes that are "fueled by dreams and powered by ...
Does Steve Jobs lisp?
Brainstorm Tech: Technology blogs, news and analysis from Fortune Magazine » Apple 2.0 —
The creators of The Simpsons are getting a lot of attention — and Hulu clicks — for the clever send-up of Apple (AAPL) that aired Sunday night. (See Bart Simpson channels Steve Jobs.)
Although most of the jokes are self-explanatory — the “MyCube” that glows to confirm that it’s off, the fake white ...
The Simpsons Poke Fun at Apple
Coolest Gadgets —
For almost twenty years, The Simpsons has been poking fun of American culture. Last Sunday, they satirized three things that are a long time coming: Apple, iPods, and Steve Jobs.
To product themselves from copyrights, The Simpsons called the Apple store a “Mapple store”, substituted “My” for every “i” on the most well-known Apple products, and even had an appearance by Steve Mobs (do I need to explain the joke here?).
Since a picture says a thousand words, I definitely invite readers to check out a clip of the episode (“Mypods and Broomsticks”) after the jump. What the clip doesn’t show is when Lisa gets her first MyPod bill ...
18 Reasons Steve Jobs Won't Deliver Any More MacWorld Keynotes
Today @ PC World —
[image] As you probably know, Steve Jobs has apparently delivered his last MacWorld keynote speech . On the scale of highly anticipated events, Jobs' keynotes clearly beat Outbreak of World Peace and are closing in on a Beatles Reunion Tour (especially now that the band would consist of Paul, Ringo and Pete Best ). So the anguished cry here at PC World's offices is "Why?" (Though, in fairness, we're probably not quite as anguished as our corporate cousins at IDG Expo, who produce the MacWorld show .) Here are our attempts at an answer to the question of the day: Why did Steve abandon us? 1. He couldn't decide what to wear. 2. Apple's Fairplay DRM ...
