Classy Microsoft commercial makes us wish there was IE on Mac (NSFW)
9 to 5 Mac - Apple Intelligence — Nice work by Crispen Porter Bogus. They are in full backtracking mode now so this might dissapear from Youtube. Perhaps she isn't a fan of the font rendering on IE?  Or maybe standards compliance? Also when trying to find this youtube (they've been pulling them), we found this gem:   ...

Microsoft takes down vomit ad
Technically Incorrect — Earlier this week, we were all rather intrigued by the appearance of a Microsoft ad (below), in which a wife borrows her husband's laptop and suffers a technicolor nightmare when she espies a site that he has been, um, enjoying. It appeared on Wednesday night that Microsoft had second thoughts about the pulling power of puke. The ad has been taken down from the BrowsefortheBetter.com site, which is part of the campaign. It has been replaced by a tag that says "coming soon." This might have meant that a new ad is coming soon, or that the upchuck was uploaded too soon. ...

Should Police Academy Alumni Direct Microsoft Ads? No.
Gawker: valleywag — Microsoft has heard your pleas: it's pulled its "Worst Tech Commercial Ever," which tried to use a puking theme to sell Internet Explorer. And you'll never guess who the director was! You will never guess. The spots did not come from Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Microsoft's edgy ad agency of record. Instead, they were from an agency called Bradley & Montgomery. And they were directed by Bobcat Goldthwait. Who said earlier this month: I think they were trying to do something that was a little less mainstream, and I think that's (what led to) my involvement. ...

Microsoft removes projectile-vomiting IE8 ad from parts of the Web
Macworld — by Elizabeth Montalbano , IDG News Service Microsoft has removed an online ad for Internet Explorer 8 that showed a woman projectile vomiting from parts of the Web. The ad, which features American actor Dean Cain and shows a woman vomiting after seeing her husband's Web browsing history, is still available via YouTube. However, Microsoft has removed it from the IE8videos channel on YouTube and the BrowsefortheBetter.com site. That site is part of Microsoft's campaign to promote IE8. The ad was meant to promote Microsoft's InPrivate browsing feature of its new Web browser, which allows people to erase their history so other people can't see ...

Microsoft Chokes On Its Own Ad; Quickly Pulls 'Vom.com' Spot
paidContent — While the Jerry Seinfeld ads represented the nadir of Microsoft’s attempts to create a popular ad campaign, the software company seemed to hit its stride recently with the general positive notices for its I’m A PC spots. But now the latest in a series of ads promoting Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 browser is so bad that it’s making some viewers want to puke—literally. The ad features a typical suburban couple at the breakfast table, and includes a laptop. (See the full ad, after the jump.) Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) told CNET that ad was intended to humorously highlight IE8’s InPrivate Browsing feature. But as ...

The IE8 puke ad pulled – the warm and fuzzy crowd wins again
The Inquisitr » Technology — Last week I wrote here about the new series of online ads that Microsoft was running for Internet Explorer 8 and truth be told I thought they were all funny as hell, and yes even the one where the wife shows her disgust for her husbands browsing habits. Then last night as I was prepping for this week’s Cynical Bastards podcast I was ...

Microsoft pulls pukey IE8 ad
The Microsoft Blog — If you haven't seen the following Microsoft ad for Internet Explorer 8, take a minute to check it out. [image] Or, if you don't have a strong stomach, let me summarize it for you: A woman borrows her husband's computer, visits a curious link in his Internet browser history (presumably porn), and vomits all over her husband. Then Dean Cain shows up and tells the viewer how to avoid such situations by using IE8's private-browsing mode. Seriously, watch at your own risk . Anyway, Microsoft has pulled the advertisement - as much as you can from the Internet. The ad, as you can tell, is still available on YouTube and other places, though not through Microsoft. It was also taken ...

MSFT Wishes You Happy Porn Browsing in New Vomit-Filled Video, Then Retracts Ad
ReadWriteWeb — Under waves of ever-increasing competition from Mozilla, Safari, and Google, Microsoft has released a series of PSA-style online videos to promote Internet Explorer 8. Featuring onetime Lois and Clark actor Dean Cain (who has apparently become the poor man's Bruce Campbell), the ads are uncharacteristically hip and discuss such real-world Internet problems as the fear of missing something (a.k.a. insomnia by social media) and the fear of your S.O. finding your porn cache. However, at least one of the video was just too cool for Microsoft. After becoming strangely popular and talked-about online, the video has been renounced by the ...

Microsoft withdraws controversial vomit advert
Tech Digest — Microsoft has pulled an online advert from its dedicated Internet Explorer 8 website, Browser for the Better, after it sparked complaints from some viewers. In the advert a wife looks on her husband's laptop and vomits after seeing his browsing history. By the looks of it she had just finished off a bowl of custard. The husband then slips on her vomit whilst Dean Cain - yep, Superman Dean Cain - enters and explains how the whole situation could have been avoided with IE8's private browsing feature. Microsoft said the ad was supposed to be "tongue-in-cheek". They said: "While much of the feedback to this particular piece of creative was positive, some of our customers ...

Microsoft Gets Rid of Vomit Ad; Stomachs Everywhere are Relieved
Maximum PC all RSS Feed — Microsoft apparently has had second thoughts about associating vomit with Internet Explorer 8. As part of a new ad campaign designed to push IE8 onto the masses, one of the four new ads showed a woman barfing all over her husband and the floor after borrowing her hubby's laptop and seeing whatever site he had been viewing, a site so horrendous as to cause her to lose her entire breakfast, and then some. Maybe he was watching Failure to Launch. The video, which garnered a ton of online media attention, has since been pulled from the IE8videos channel on YouTube, as well as from BrowsefortheBetter.com, a site that is part of the ad ...

Microsoft Ads to Make You Puke
by Ron Miller — The Puking Woman was only the latest in a series of ads over the last year--that have included Bill & Jerry, Lauren and Search Overload is Over--that have failed to hit the mark. It's time for Microsoft to rethink its ads. Read why on DaniWeb. Photo courtesy of FredoAlvarez on ...

Microsoft vomit ad more than half of campaign's views
Technically Incorrect — Vomit throws up viral views. At least that is the conclusion of the strangely anal examiners of viral video at Visible Measures. Perhaps some of you may have avoided the splashback from the Internet Explorer 8 vomit ad, featuring a husband, a wife, and former Superman Dean Cain. The ad was slipped online and was pulled shortly afterward, as some people thought watching a housewife throwing up in the kitchen after seeing something untoward on her husband's laptop was not entirely edifying. However, the Visible Measurers have offered some pleasantly risible measurements. Apparently, 57 percent of all the views enjoyed by the ...

MSI: Our Notebooks Are So Thin You Can Shove Them up Your Derriere
Wired: Gadget Lab — OK, really. How do these people even get jobs in advertising? First there was Microsoft’s repulsive “Oh My God I’m Gonna Puke” ad for Internet Explorer 8. Now there’s Micro-Star International’s ad involving dudes heaving laptops into each other’s butt cracks. We get the point: Your notebooks are thin. But really now. Don’t do anything like this ever again — no ifs, ands or butts about it. Via Gizmodo ...

Microsoft's Windows 7 House Party prep video is a real party pooper
Betanews — By Joe Wilcox, Betanews Sometimes buzz is the last thing a company should want. Microsoft's lame Windows House Party prep video is the rage of the Web right now -- and that's not good. I refrained from blogging yesterday but have been called to action. This morning, Interpret's Michael Gartenberg tweeted: "How have you not weighed in on the House Party videos? Are you just laughing too hard... We need some JW analysis here please." OK. OK. I'll break my silence. The House Party video is so bad I hurled not laughed. It is godawful disgusting marketing.
