Yesterday Google Maps for BlackBerry was updated to version 3.2.0 and with it came the new "layers" feature. Layers integration was previously released for Windows Mobile devices and now BlackBerry users can enjoy it.
With this new feature Google Maps now has the ability to link to your Google account so you can create several different maps and save them for later use. Layers can be switched on and off from your menu screen and each layer gives you the ability to get specific information about your location.

Tom from the Google Maps team announced in a Google Mobile Help thread that Google updated the Google Maps for mobile for BlackBerry application. The update is version 3.2 and includes one major new feature, layers. You can add layers of data on top of the map. For instance, you can overlay a location-aware Wikipedia screen. Or Latitude. Or even make your own favorite locations and travel itinerary in a function called My Maps.
