Verizon Wireless kills Pay as You Go data plans, data plans now mandatory
Boy Genius Report — This has been rumored to be coming but VZW E dropped the bomb on us all by leaking a Verizon Wireless document detailing some drastic changes to Verizon’s data plans. Starting November 14th, 2008, all new PDA / Smartphones will require a $29.99/month or greater data plan. Gone are the pay as you go data plans, 1X data block plans and the 10 MB $24.99/month plans. The good news is that those who are currently signed up for any of the now canceled plans will not be forced to change. If you have a data block, you can keep your data block and continue to use Wi-Fi instead of EV-DO for you data connection. The bad news is that once ...

Verizon to Terminate Pay-as-You-Go Data Plans

Verizon Forces $30 Minimum Data Plans on New Smartphones [Unconfirmed]
Gizmodo — ... Verizon's data plans are about to get a lot more...aggressive. According to a leaked memo, starting Nov. 14, all new smartphones will require at least a $30 a month data plan—no more pay as you go, 1X block or 10MB/$25 data plans. People with those plans won't be forced into the new scheme, but if you swap out your phone or re-up your contract, you know the drill. It's actually comparable to AT&T;, so it's not so horrible. But the other half of the new data pricing scheme is. ...

PAYG data plans dumped by Verizon as of 14th November
Phones Review — We’ve seen quite a few leaked documents of late and we have another for you now, this time ii is a document leaked from Verizon Wireless which announces the death of PAYG data plans on Verizon mobile phones. As of the 14th of November, all new Verizon smartphones will require the buyer to purchase a minimum data plan of $29.99 per month, which means the regular PAYG data plans are now in the bin for new Verizon users. However, it is presumed current PSYG customers will hang on to their PAYG data plans until such times as they change their smartphone. Personally I think it’s kind of short-sighted of Verizon because if I were a ...

Verizon nixing Pay as You Go data and requiring data plans
CrunchGear — ... spotted a leaked document over at HoFo indicating that changes are on the way. Come November 14th, Verizon’s booting the option from their systems, along with 1X data block and 10mb allotment plans. While folks already on the P.A.Y.G plan are set as long as they don’t mess with their bill too much, anybody looking to get a PDA/Smartphone through Verizon will be required to pick a data plan costing $29.99 a month or more. ...
