HTC 'Spotify' Hero now available on 3
Techradar - All the latest technology news —
3 has announced the HTC Hero, complete with Spotify Premium subscription, is available from its shops. Consumers get a free* Spotify Premium account for two years, allowing them to use music streaming on the Android handset. The reason it's not free* is that the deal is tied into the cost of the contract - customers pay £99 up front and £35 a month for two years to get the phone complete with Spotify. Spotting the cheaper deal When compared to other similar phones on the network, it does mean you get Spotify Premium for around £100 less than it would have cost to buy outright, and plus it's tied in to your monthly bill anyway. The Hero is also available in ...
Review: HTC HD2
Techradar - All the latest technology news —
The HTC HD2 is the world's first Windows Mobile-toting phone with a capacitive screen, and also packs the world's largest mobile phone display too. It's also the first WinMo phone to use HTC's Sense UI, previously used on the company's Android handsets, bringing with it Facebook integration and direct Twitter access, as well as masking well the operating system beneath it. Running Windows Mobile 6.5, it certainly makes use of the all the good bits of the upgrade, but HTC decides to do its own thing on around 95 per cent of the HD2. The first thing that most people will notice when picking up the HTC HD2 is the sheer size of the screen, which is justified when you realise it's a whopping ...
Google phone software installed in-store
Techradar - All the latest technology news —
In a curious move clearly intended to help spread the gospel about its growing mobile phone prowess, Google has teamed up with a major US retailer to get its software onto more handsets. Best Buy's new 'Walk out Working' programme appears to simply offer buyers of new smartphones the option of having the Google Mobile App installed in-store. Otherwise, there's not a great deal to it. They need help One of the shop's marketing execs explained: "We know that consumers want smartphones and, increasingly, they want to use applications. The challenge is that people still need help understanding what is available to them and how they can bring it to life on their ...
In Depth: iPhone in the UK: two years on
Techradar - All the latest technology news —
Two years ago today, we stood inside the Apple Store on Regent Street, London watching in disbelief as a queue of people waited outside to spend £269 on the first generation of the Apple iPhone. And that was before you got to the £35-a-month O2 contract. At 6.02pm the doors opened. The launch was hectic and disorganised. At the time we noted the scenes resembled Beatlemania. 'Absolute pandemonium' at UK iPhone launch We headbutted a cameraman and tripped over a newspaper photographer - it was a real battle for elbow room as Apple hosts greeted the first few buyers through the door with whoops and chants. Buyers went through the back of the store, purchased ...
iPhone worm cripples handsets with Rick Astley
Techradar - All the latest technology news —
A new virus is infecting iPhones - the Ikee - forcing users to look at a picture of Rick Astley as their wallpaper. It's only affecting jailbroken phones - those modified to run non-Apple approved software - but can jump from iPhone to iPhone with no input. The hacker that developed the worm has been identifies as Ashley Towns (who goes by the handle ikeeex), who has stated that he initially infected 100 units with the worm. "Due to the nature of it, it's kind of hard to tell, I know my phone hit about 100 alone but from there I have no idea," he said. Waving hello to Astley He said that the virus hit the first wave of people at 4am on 6 November, and has ...
