Sony Europe has said that the PS3 install base is 300,000 larger than the Xbox 360 in PAL territories; this includes countries that are outside of Europe and Australia. Microsoft said that November was their biggest ever month for sales for the Xbox 360, as sales increased by 124 percent over the same period last year. This has to be a direct result of the constant price cuts that Microsoft is offering.

According to the combined figures of ChartTrack and GfK, the Xbox 360 has outsold the PlayStation 3 by around one million consoles in the five largest markets in Western Europe. That's Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. A million is pretty close all things considered, but when you consider only one thing - that Europe used to be Sony's heartland - the news isn't as hot as it sounds.
