Windows Live What's New Sidebar Gadget (beta) now available
Dare Obasanjo aka Carnage4Life — Since we released the latest version of the Windows Live what's new feed which shows what's been going on with your social network at http://home.live.com, we've gotten repeated asks to provide a Windows Vista gadget so people can keep up with their social circle directly from their desktop. You asked, and now we've delivered. Get it from here. What I love most about this gadget is that a huge chunk of the work to get this out the door was done by our summer interns from 2008. I love how interns can be around for a short time but provide a ton of bang for the buck while they are here. Hope you enjoy the gadget as much as I have. ...

Windows Live Sidebar Gadget
Geek In Disguise —   I have to confess to not being a huge Windows Sidebar fan as it cluttered my desktop but this new Windows Live Sidebar gadget may change all that. With the release of the Wave 3 of Windows Live you get excellent aggregation of content from Flickr,Twitter and elsewhere and this gadget displays all of that goodness on your desktop with a refresh rate you can set. Check it out on Windows Live Gallery and thanks to Dare for posting and Brandon for bringing to my attention.

Windows Live What’s new sidebar goodness – try it out & screenshots
Angus Logan's Blog — I just noticed Dare posted about the What’s New Sidebar Gadget (beta) being available – get it! What I dig the most about the What’s New feed is the level of control I get to make sure I’m not getting spammed etc. btw – Hopefully I didn’t screenshot any private newsfeed updates.

Top 5 must-have desktop Gadgets for Windows 7
Redmond Pie — Windows 7 Beta has been out for a while now and my take on it is that it is fast, stable and it gives more intriguing experience than any of its predecessors.   Among many changes, Microsoft has changed the way how Windows handles Gadgets on the desktop. In Windows Vista, Sidebar provided a containing environment which hosted mini-apps built using XML, DHTML and JavaScript. Now starting with Windows 7, Windows Sidebar is no longer required to run gadgets as these mini DHTML based apps can now be placed directly on the desktop without having to have Windows Sidebar running. I have been fond of using gadgets ever since their inception in Windows Vista. ...
