Windows Live Sidebar Gadget
Geek In Disguise —   I have to confess to not being a huge Windows Sidebar fan as it cluttered my desktop but this new Windows Live Sidebar gadget may change all that. With the release of the Wave 3 of Windows Live you get excellent aggregation of content from Flickr,Twitter and elsewhere and this gadget displays all of that goodness on your desktop with a refresh rate you can set. Check it out on Windows Live Gallery and thanks to Dare for posting and Brandon for bringing to my attention.

Redmond Pie — Windows 7 Beta has been out for a while now and my take on it is that it is fast, stable and it gives more intriguing experience than any of its predecessors.   Among many changes, Microsoft has changed the way how Windows handles Gadgets on the desktop. In Windows Vista, Sidebar provided a containing environment which hosted mini-apps built using XML, DHTML and JavaScript. Now starting with Windows 7, Windows Sidebar is no longer required to run gadgets as these mini DHTML based apps can now be placed directly on the desktop without having to have Windows Sidebar running.
