Microsoft Gives Bloggers Laptops, Again
Microsoft Watch — ... . She conveyed his passion for the product, which even I can feel through the somewhat dry writing (Sorry, Steven, you're a better speaker). The E7 blog and new Windows 7 Team Blog are the beginnings of a broader, perception-setting effort. Because of Vista, the Windows perception-messaging team has a tough job ahead. But this week's Windows 7 keynote and laptop loaner program started the process in a positive way. That said, that team and I won't ever love one another. I tend to be critical in my analysis. It's a cultural thing. I grew up in no-bullshit Northern Maine. ...

Goodbye Old Friend - Windows 3.x laid to rest
Geek In Disguise —   Something eerie about this. On Saturday morning I installed Windows 7 for the first time. The same day the door closed on Windows 3.x after 18 years. As reported by the BBC it is the end of an era. Clunky as it seems now, Windows 3.x is sort of why I am where I am now – it was running on the first PC we had at home and was revolutionary compared to the orange screen “PC” we had on loan from my Dad’s company only weeks before. Ah the good old days. As The Register reminds us 3.11 ...

Why So Little Buzz Surrounding Windows 7?
InformationWeek - All Stories And Blogs — ... sparser. That sure seems to be the case surrounding Windows 7. My early tests of the operating system, which will succeed Vista in about a year, indicate that it's a solid, high-performing, great-looking platform. So why aren't we hearing more about it? True, my complaint is highly subjective. If you ask Microsoft, they'd say they are beating the hustings for Windows 7. (Microsoft has an Engineering Windows 7 blog, though it hasn't been updated in half a month. The Windows Team blog and Welcome to WIndows 7 are even sparser.) However, if you think back to ...

Windows 7 To Go RTM In August …. or so
The Blade by Ron Schenone, MVP — ... milestone for Windows 7 – RTM, or release to manufacturing. RTM is the final stage for the engineering of Windows 7.
