Spotlight Gadget - EMTEC Gdium Liberty Netbook
The Gadgeteer —
It’s another new netbook, but with a twist: this one isn’t based on the PC architecture, but on a 900 MHz 64-bit MIPS CPU (that means no Windows XP or Vista, ever) and Linux. It also has no internal storage, using form-fitting USB keys preloaded with the operating system instead. It could be ideal for Linux hackers, but does it have a shot at the mass market? Only time will tell. Check out its product page for more specs.

... Taking the place of the hard drive is a personable and bootable USB called the G-Key. It stores the Linux OS, user data and preferences. Remove the G-Key and the data vanishes. The remaining specs include a 900Mhz CPU from ST Microelectronic, 512MB of RAM, WiFi b/g, 3x USB 2.0 ports, webcam, 2.6lbs form factor and a 10-inch 1024×600 LCD.
There is currently no word on release date, but expect it to cost $400.

EMTEC Gdium - a netbook with a G-Key
Coolest Gadgets —
... The idea behind it is that each user will have their own G-Key so one Gdium netbook could be shared between multiple users with no risk at all to others’ data. It’s an interesting idea, though with the relative cheap price of netbooks I’m not sure if sharing one is really needed though if you could also use the G-Key in other machines it would make carrying a PC in your pocket a something of a reality.
Further info and machine specs can be found on the Emtec site. ...
