Obsessable News Feed — Samsung has posted the first information on its SyncMaster 2494HS, a 23.6-inch LCD monitor. Featuring a full 1080p resolution, the 2494HS claims a 5-millisecond refresh rate and a 50,000:1 contrast ratio, thanks to dynamic lighting adjustment. The native ratio is 1,000:1, which is pretty standard for LCD screens, but some of Samsung's SyncMasters in the past have tested below that rating. The monitor supports a full range of protected inputs, including HDMI and HDCP-enabled DVI, in addition to the normal analog VGA. To save power, the screen operates on only one watt when in standby mode, pulling 48 watts in full operation. The 2494HS should be out in Japan ...
