Acer Liquid's Snapdragon processor to be clocked at just 768MHz?
Engadget Mobile —
... see above, it looks as if the Qualcomm-sourced CPU will be underclocked to just 768MHz, which makes little to no sense on the surface. Granted, most average consumers couldn't care less about the CPU in their next smartphone, but it seems reasonable to think that the Liquid will lag behind its 1GHz contemporaries when used side-by-side. Who knows though -- maybe this is just the thing necessary to squeeze a full week of battery life out of this thing. Or not.

Phones Review —
Before we go into the details of the update we would like to say we already knew on October 18th, 2009 that the Acer Liquid handset’s Snapdragon processor was 768MHz not 1GHz thanks to an email sent into us.
We wrote about this before and even re-published with the new update (Read Here), we thought at first like many other sites like MobileTechWorld and Engadget that the Acer Liquid phone has the Snapdragon 1GHz chipset but have all come to learn that it is in fact running at 768MHz.
Shame though as 1GHz would have been nice but never mind, just ...
Acer Liquid’s SnapDragon clocked at 768Mhz
Android Phone Fans —
... Interesting find here. Apparently rather than the 1Ghz anticipated clock speed for the Liquid’s SnapDragon processor, that bad boys’ movin’ at 768Mhz. Then general response so far seems to be “What?” on this one.
As Engadget put it: Who knows, maybe it’s for battery life.
