Hackintosh Netbooks May Be Safe in 10.6.2 After All [Hackintosh]
Lifehacker —
... we reported that the then-current build of Mac OS X 10.6.2 took away support for the Intel Atom processor , which could break Hackintosh netbooks. It turns out, though, that the newest build has re-enabled Atom support. However, we'd still recommend being cautious when 10.6.2 officially rolls don't upgrade right when the final release comes out until you know what's in it but hopefully this will assuage some fears. Tech Ticker —
... It was claimed that the 10.6.2 Snow Leopard update would not support Atom processors, effectively killing the hackintosh scene. Now the word is that the latest seed of the update brings back the Atom support.
The developer seed 10C535 has enabled Atom support and with that the possibility of installing Mac OS X on netbooks. However, despite the glimmer of hope, it’s still not known if Apple will let the Atom support remain in the final release.
