... Popular Science and Popular Mechanics. Amazingly, it looks like Pop Sci first hit newsstands in May 1872. It took another 33 years for Popular Mechanics to arrive on the scene. The ability to instantly search decades worth of material is irresistible, and I will gleefully respond by spending countless hours learning how to build vintage hydrofoils and futuristic transistor radios in my garden shed.
