Pogoplug Questions Answered in Video
jkOnTheRun —
I still think the Pogoplug from Cloud Engines is appealing. Perhaps not for tech-savvy folks, but for people who want a plug-and-play solution to remotely access any USB drive at home. When we reported on the device, there were a few questions, so we asked them on the floor at Showstoppers. The room lights were dimmed for no apparent reason during the very short vid, hence the dark and grainy nature of the video. At least you get to see it the same way we did. More important are the answers we hear about ...
Put your data in the cloud with Pogoplug
Coolest Gadgets —
I like simple. Strange thing to say for a geek but to to paraphrase Honda, sometimes it’s nice when things just work.
That’s what I find appealing about the Pogoplug. Plug a USB hard drive in to it. Plug it into your router. See your hard drive on the internet. That’s it – no config, no networking to set up, no monthly fee. It just… works!
Or at least that’s the promise. To be fair we’ll need to get our paws on one before we can confirm the claim (it’s in preproduction at the moment) but it looks easy enough.

Last night at the ShowStoppers event, the Gadgetell crew was frantically running around looking for something unique to highlight, and it seems that something instead found us, which came courtesy of an very enthusiastic booth representative. PogoPlug NAS Adapter takes it to the next level
CrunchGear —
I enjoyed using the Addonics USB NAS adapter: it was easy to use, and did a few simple things quite well. Now PogoPlug is entering the NAS fray, and takes things to the next level of simplicity.
Gone is the external power plug, which makes for a very nice form factor. Just stick this thing into the wall, and connect it to an Ethernet cable. This is one of those “well, duh!” moments: why don’t more small home networking appliances work like this?
Gone, too, is the need to set anything up! Rather than require you to open up ports in your firewall, you interact ...
PogoPlug Adapter Makes NAS Frighteningly Simple
The UberReview —
... but every once in a while you get something that just works. The PogoPlug NAS adapter looks like it falls into that category. The manufacturer claims that setup is as simple as plugging it into the wall and plugging an external HDD into it.
Once you have done so, you can remotely access your hard disk from anywhere, via a web-based log-in; meaning that there is no need to have a static IP and no router configuration required, and it is iPhone accessible.

PogoPlug Turns Any USB Hard Drive Into A NAS

I have quite a bit of data on my home network. From software to music and movies, it adds up quick. A while back I decided to move all of that precious data from my desktop to a NAS. If you’re not familiar with the term, it stands for Network Attached Storage. Essentially I run my own small file server. What happens to data when a Web start-up dies?
Webware.com —
One of the greatest stumbling blocks that a start-up Web service company has to get over is customers' fear that the company will die and take their data with it.
