Following the first weekend of PSP Go sales, at least four UK retailers are offering sale prices on the new handheld. Amazon.co.uk, Play, HMV and GAME have all discounted the device to £199.99, which - while still really expensive (it converts to around US $319) - is a significant drop from the MSRP of £224.99.
While it's tempting to just write this off as the PSP Go bombing, we're guessing that the MSRP includes some room for retailer profit (unlike the standard price points for most consoles), and these stores are cutting the margins a bit in the interest of competitiveness. Of ...

Internet retailers are already hacking lumps off the PSP Go's recommended retial price of £225, with the flash new portable PlayStation now available from numerous online stores for £199 - merely a week after the machine launched.
PSP Go's cause won't be helped by quotes from Don McCabe, the MD of independent high street retailer Chips, who says he thinks the download-only new PSP will "fail miserably" and that the console's online model is a "no-go" that will ruin it for everyone else.
You won't be getting any more free stickers to go in your shop windows from Sony after that ...
