Panasonic Announces Sexy, Pointless Portable Blu-ray Player
Wired: Gadget Lab — LAS VEGAS -- Take a look at the photograph above and wonder, for a moment, just why Panasonic might release a tiny Blu-ray player with a built-in screen. But that's just what it did at CES 2009 today. Consider the case: The DMP-B15 has a netbook sized screen (8.9") with WSVGA resolution (pretty much the same as a netbook). It has an Ethernet port to use Panasonic's walled garden Internet content service, Vieracast, and a rather poor three hour battery life (just like a netbook!) Of course, it has a Blu-ray drive in there, but why on Earth would you want that? At this size a DVD rip would be sufficient. The only advantage we see is that there is an HDMI out, meaning it'll work as a standalone Blu-ray player when hooked up ...

Panasonic hoping to launch 64GB SDXC card
Engadget — SDXC may have a theoretical capacity range of 32GB to 2TB, but Panasonic has already confessed that it's hoping to launch a 64GB card as soon as feasibly possible. Regrettably, pricing and availability is still yet to be determined, but we're going to go out on a limb here and guessing it'll be somewhere between "pricey" and "crazy expensive." Panasonic launches new line of of camcorders at CES 2009
Engadget — We already caught wind of a few new camcorders from Panasonic today, but now the whole crew is official. We've got too many to call 'em out, but here's a few highlights. First off, the SDR-S26 packs a mighty ridiculous 70x optical zoom. The partnering SDR-H80 and SDR-H90 also include optical image stabilization and varying amounts of internal storage, but truthfully, these really aren't worth swooning over. The half dozen Full HD models, however, are definitely worth peeking. The HDC-HS300, HDC-TM300 and HDC-HS250 all feature the outfit's 3MOS system, but unfortunately, none of these are particularly affordable. If you don't believe us, have a look at the links below. The 2TB Memory Card Arrives: Panasonic's SDXC Format
Fast Company - Technology — 10:05 am | 0 recommendations | 0 comments The 2TB Memory Card Arrives: Panasonic's SDXC Format | posted by Kit Eaton The format of future memory cards, SDXC, just announced by the SD Card Association -- of which Panasonic is a founding member -- allows data storage in capacities between 32GB and 2TB. [image] That's 2 terabytes, folks: about as much storage in one thumbnail-sized device as I have in every computer and external hard drive in my home added together. That's also as much data that's on forty 50GB double-layer Blu-ray discs. Panasonic notes as much in its press release -- is the company teasing the potential demise of Blu-ray before the format even properly lifts off? The spin goes something like: SDXC will allow "consumers to conveniently store ...
