At this point in time, Windows continues to dominate with more than 90% of market share, Mac OS is above 5% mark, and Linux is just under 1%. As Of October 2009 Windows XP Still At 70%
The Blade by Ron Schenone, MVP — ... Windows XP use pegged at 70.48%. So why do people continue to love their Windows XP? Simple. It works! Don’t get me wrong. I am really enjoying Windows 7. But in all honesty it doesn’t really do anything any better than XP did. Or does it? What do you think? This doesn't come as a huge surprise, considering how many Windows users were clamoring for Win7 after the flop that is Vista. Microsoft says Windows 7's launch outdid Vista's by 234%. Those brisk sales have already netted Windows a 2% share of the world's OS business, compared to just over 1% for Snow Leopard, and just under 1% for Linux. Despite the strong sales of Win7, Windows as a whole dropped a quarter of a percentage point in October, with Mac and Linux both making small gains. ...
