More like the Apple TV than a straight Media Center Extender device, thanks to the option for installing an internal SATA hard drive, the EVA9000 will play nearly every video file format under the sun from either local storage or streamed over the network with Ethernet or WiFi. Like the WD TV HD Media Player, Netgear's player supports MKV files, in addition to decoding raw high definition MPEG2 transport streams.
