Engadget — News Corp, Time Inc., Condé Nast Publications Inc., Hearst Corp., and Meredith Corp. If this Wall Street Journal report is to be believed here, these five major media firms are preparing to announce a new joint venture tomorrow to "prepare print publications for a new generation of electronic readers and other digital devices." Seeing as tablets still haven’t reached the level of popularity they would need to for this to be a legitimate tactic, there still an awful lot of information lacking. There’s no news on pricing structure, DRM, when it’ll arrive, how they’re going to use it (Adobe Air still seems likely). It just seems like they’re waiting for the iTablet to arrive, galvanize the market, and then they can unveil the plan. [via WSJ]
