True to form, sometime in the past few days Apple upgraded the specs on its white MacBook bringing it much closer in line with its aluminum unibody brothers. While the processor is down 100MHz and currently stands at 2.0GHz, Apple compensated for the loss with a much faster 1066MHz front side bus. You're going to need to stick with the older DDR2, simply because DDR3 RAM isn't designed to be backward compatible. In fact, it's even possible you'll damage the slot by using the newer RAM, so we'd suggest you not try it, lest you end up sadder than the average panda. White MacBook Gets Minor Update: Faster CPU and RAM, More Battery

Thanks to the updates, the WhiteBook now has a faster processor than the entry-level aluminum MacBook, and a bigger build-to-order hard drive (500GB). And it still has a FireWire port. Updates to the unibody soon?
