La parte positiva es que LG asegura que la duración media de vida será de 30.000 horas por lo que parece que se ha superado uno de los grandes inconvenientes de esta tecnología. No se trata, no obstante, del primer televisor OLED ya que Sony lanzó recientemente al mercado su Sony XEL-1 pero aún está inaccesible, económicamente hablando, para el consumidor medio pues tiene un precio de 2500 dólares.

LG announced that it's releasing 15-inch active-matrix OLED TVs this June, and we took a look at a similar AMOLED prototype on the show floor at the Consumer Electronics Show. They're paper-thin and razor-sharp; at only 0.83 inches thick, they've got a 720p-friendly display resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
