IE 8 release candidate due early next year
The Microsoft Blog — On the Internet Explorer blog today, General Manager Dean Hachamovitch said that a release candidate of IE8 would be issued in the first quarter of 2009. That will be followed by the final release of the product. Microsoft has not given a time frame for when IE8 will be released. A second beta version of the web browser was released in August, with a number of new features, including privacy settings and a new "smart bar" that lets users type key words, rather than just web addresses, in the address bar to find a site they want to visit. Read about more features ...

IE8 slips into 2009 - good or bad news?
TG Daily - All News — ... said. The reason? To look at all the feedback that has been provided so far. But there may be an unknown variable as well. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is increasingly under pressure from rivals such as Firefox and Safari, which are consistently gaining ground on the dominant browser on the Internet. In a time where IE market share seems to breaking away every week, we learn that IE8 will not, as widely anticipated, launched in 2008, but in Q1 2009 at the earliest. Hachamovitch’s post does not provide a clear idea why the browser may have been delayed, but he noted that ...

It’s official: No IE 8 until 2009
All about Microsoft — ... — a plan which seemed quite ambitious given how often I “report a Webpage problem” to Microsoft when I’m surfing the Web using IE 8 Beta 2. IE General Manager Dean Hachamovitch provided information on  the updated IE 8  timetable on Wednesday. From his post:“We will release one more public update of IE8 in the first quarter of 2009, and then follow that up with the final release.“Our next public release of IE (typically called a ‘release candidate’) indicates the end of the beta period. We want the technical community of people and organizations interested in web browsers to ...

IE8: What’s After Beta 2
SuperSite Blog — ... I guess they took my strident feedback about Beta 2 seriously: IE 8 pretty much breaks the Web at this point. But as Dean Hachamovitch, the General Manager of Internet Explorer notes, there’s still work to be done before Microsoft can release its next browser: ...

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 Won't Ship Until 2009
ChannelWeb Complete Feed — ... in the first quarter of 2009, according to a blog posting Wednesday by Dean Hachamovitch, Internet Explorer general manager at Microsoft. That "release candidate" will be followed by the final release, Hachamovitch said. Microsoft first demonstrated the new release of Internet Explorer 8 at the vendor's Mix conference in March, followed quickly by the product's first beta. That was followed by the second beta in August and that's the version the Microsoft community has been testing. The final release of the software was widely expected by the end of 2008. Hachamovitch's ...

Internet Explorer 8 Will Be Released Next Year
The Blade by Ron Schenone, MVP — ... issues. We will be super clear about product changes we make between the update and the final release. I personally believe Microsoft is approaching the release of IE 8 in a responsible way. The company is attempting to iron out the bugs before the browser is released. It would appear that the company is taking seriously their attempt to not release another ‘Vista’ of any of their products. Comments welcome. Source.

Internet Explorer 8 Will Ship In 2009
InformationWeek - All Stories And Blogs — Computer users hoping to get their hands on a final version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 Web browser are going to have to wait a bit longer. Though speculation has pegged IE 8's release for sometime in the current year, a Microsoft executive has confirmed that the browser will not ship until 2009. In a blog post Wednesday, IE general manager Dean Hachamovitch said Explorer 8 will not be released in final form at least until the first quarter of next year. In fact, the browser will be undergoing beta testing into the new year, said Hachamovitch. "We will release ...

Betanews — ... a statement to BetaNews this afternoon, a Microsoft spokesperson repeated that it plans to release Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server SP2 within the first half of next year. Given that the first half of next year is five weeks away, we can probably write off January as a possible release month, given that the RC1 cycle for both operating systems will have to follow extensive beta cycles. April for Vista SP2 is within the realm of possibility if everything goes off like clockwork. In a blog post two weeks ago , Internet Explorer Dean Hatchamovitch revealed his team's plans ...
