... addition of EPUB support, making this $259.99 device a more affordable (although less pretty) alternative to the Sony Reader, and a more flexible option than the Kindle. We looked around and have yet to spot the new firmware's download link, but chances are devices shipped this month will come preloaded with the new code. Still, Barnes & Noble's identical price tag will easily overshadow this in a few weeks -- hello Nook, goodbye eSlick.

... reader will now be able to read nonDRMed ePub and eReader (PDB), not just PDF and TXT. I’m not sure about the ability in regard to DRMed books: perhaps someone can enlighten us. I’m skeptical.
Beyond more formats, Foxit now includes the ability to organize your book into folders—and you can use the new virtual keyboard to type out names. Foxit has also added bookmarket.
Existing users will be able to upgrade..

... this fine Sunday with the e-Book Echo, our take on the week in the digital publishing world. Sony is teaming up with indie publishers to allow such work to be carried in the company’s e-book store for Sony Reader customers. Sony is working with Smashwords and Author Solutions to handle e-books distributed by those services. This opens the door for authors to get their own self-published works onto the Sony Reader line of electronic readers.
