HP Voodoo Firefly concept gaming notebook gets hands-on
SlashGear —
... As monstrous beasts of laptops go, HP Voodoo’s prototype Firefly certainly stomps its way near the top. Intended to demonstrate some of the innovation coming out of the hardcore gaming team, the Firefly pairs a 17.1-inch 1920 x 1200 main display with a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 sub-display underneath (similar to the ...

... HDD and a couple of ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 GPUs running in CrossFire mode.
It further awes you with customizable keyboard backlight, strategically placed multi-touch trackpad, Creative X-Fi audio technology and night vision webcam. There’s also a secondary 4.3-inch display (800X480 pixels) sitting beneath the main screen allowing it to function like an extended display. I would be really interested if this comes to retail with, of course, a decent price tag.

Voodoo demos Firefly concept gaming laptop
T3.com All —
... HDD is a 7,200 rpm 250GB model. Before we all get too excited by this beast, there are a couple of caveats. For starters, this version won t ever hit the shops. It s a prototype, but that also means it s testing the waters for a real product to come along in future. The other issue is the weight. At just short of 6kg, it s not really something that can be considered portable in the strictest sense. This isn t the nineties anymore, you know. HP Firefly with Voodoo DNA Gaming Notebook Review
I4U News —
... a flinch. Quote from the review: "Calling this titan a Firefly is like naming a rabid pitbull Cupcake. After all, HP tells us it weighs 13 pounds including a massive pound power brick, and looks a lot like the laptop version of HPs Blackbird desktop system with Voodoo DNA. With a 17-inch screen, it isnt as large as the 20.1-inch HP HDX, but its not a system you would want to carry on your back (nor do we think you could even find a bag for it!)" HP's Firefly Laptop Has Dual-Screens, Multitouch Trackpad
Fast Company - Technology —
... "normal" pads as you type, it's really not very good for left-handers. Still, that's not really a problem with this particular machine--it's never going into production in its existing format, with HP intending it to light the way into the future of laptop technology, which it sees as replacing desktops. Interesting stuff, and since it represents a few "tweaks," versus a radical re-thinking of the notebook PC concept, it has the sort of features we may see on real machines soon. [ Laptopmag via ...
HP's huge concept laptop has an extra screen, moved trackpad
DVICE Atom Feed —
HP just showed off a pretty crazy new laptop concept, dubbed the HP Firefly with Voodoo DNA. It's a monster of a computer, featuring a 17-inch screen and weighing in at a whopping 13 pounds. But with that size it packs a lot of interesting features.
For one, it has a small 4.3-inch LCD display underneath the main display. It has a nice 800 x 480 resolution, but who knows what you'd use it for. It also mixes up the design by putting the trackpad to the right of the keyboard rather than below it, which seems to make sense. The huge laptop is a concept for now, with no plans for production, but don't be surprised if you see something along these lines coming out of HP later ...
HP Gets Its CES Tease On With The Firefly Laptop With Secondary Screen & Weird Trackpad (video)
GadgetReview —
HP has officially instituted the preCES 2009 spin machine. They’ve exclusively issued a prototype laptop, called the “HP Firefly with Voodoo DNA”, to LaptopMag for a hands on. The laptop is conceptual, so the likelihood of all its features making it to market are slim.
So where do we start? First off, this thing is a behemoth. It’s 13lbs and that’s not even including the 1lb power brick. The screen measures 17-inches, includes an oddly right justified trackpad with multigesture commands and a backlit keyboard. In addition, to the 17-inch 1920×1080 LCD, there’s also a 4.3-inch 800×480 LCD at the base of the main screen for a HUD ...
LaptopMag plays with the concept Firefly laptop from HP Voodoo
Krunker —
LaptopMag has the inside scoop on a new concept laptop system from HP’s Voodoo PC division called the “Firefly”. This laptop is certainly a gamers delight as it features an Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core processor, 4GB of RAM, and dual ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 GPUs. Yet what really sets the system apart is the dual display concept. First, you get a sweet 17 inch, 1920 x 1200 resolution display – perfect for fragging your enemies. While you’re fraggin away, you can also check your email, surf the web, or do whatever you want using the secondary 4.3 inch 800 x 480 resolution display that resides right below the larger one. Yes, calling it a laptop might be a bit of a stretch ...
