AT&T and Radio Shack to offer $100 Acer Aspire One?
Liliputing —
Want to know how to make a cheap notebook even cheaper? Bundle it with a 3G broadband modem and get a wireless provider to subsidize the price you pay up front for the computer. European and Asian mobile carriers have been offering discounted netbooks like the Acer Aspire One and Asus Eee PC for months, but US shoppers have been out of luck so far.
Now Engadget reports that Radio Shack and AT&T may be preparing to offer to an Acer Aspire One netbook for just $99.99 when you sign up for a 2-year service plan. It’s ...
RadioShack to offer Acer Aspire One with AT&T’s 3G for $99?

... to pay anyway. To be fair, you may need a less-worth contract and your existing laptop could do the job just fine. But if you want to join the “netbook wave,” Acer’s product is one of the best options on the market. Or at least, that’s my take.
One thing is unclear, though. We’re not sure when will RadioShack actually start pushing this offer. It’s December and if they want to grab a piece of the holiday rush, the time is now!

RadioShack To Sell Acer Aspire One For $100 With AT&T Data Contract [NetBooks]
Gizmodo —
... Radioshack ad is to be believed, the Acer Aspire One will be among the first netbooks to be sold subsidized with a data contract here in the U.S. Otherwise, it'll set you back around $350 without the data plan (and an untasty $500 if you buy it at RadioShack without the contract, so don't do that). The offer looks to be good only for a week (or, that's just the week the flyer is current), so watch for it starting on December 14 if you're in the market for a netbook and a 3G plan. [Engadget] ...
More "niche" netbooks sold in 3Q2008 than iPhones
jkOnTheRun —
... sitting between an iPhone and the MacBook. In fact, there's been much talk of integrated 3G in netbooks of late, and particularly in carrier subsidies: consumers pay a low price for the netbook and commit to a data plan with a carrier which reduces the initial outlay. It's a method that's already in place for the iPhone 3G, so is it really a stretch to think it couldn't be applied to Apple's version of a netbook, whatever that might be? ...

Subsidized Acer Aspire One hitting Radio Shack for $99?
Boy Genius Report —
Carrier subsidized netbooks, a common occurrence overseas, may finally be making their way stateside. In a “first ever” for the US, Radio Shack and AT&T may be offering the Acer Aspire One netbook for a mere $99 with an AT&T AirCard minimum data plan of $60/month. Yes, we know that potential Dell Inspiron Mini 9 owners can get a price break on the cost of the 3G modem with an AT&T contract but the netbook itself is not reduced in price, thus disqualifying it from being the first true US carrier-subsidized netbook. As with all carrier ...

From Engadget - If the above image turns out to be legit, Radio Shack is set to offer an Acer Aspire One for just $99 so long as you sign up for a minimum $60/month data plan with AT&T.; That comes to something north of $1,500 over the life of the contract, which is hardly a steal - but then it is sounds a lot better when compared to the 2-year $35/month sub$200 smartphone bundles being offered. ...
