Stagueve sez, "Ben Heck just finished his new project, a gorgeous Commodore 64 Laptop:"
This project somehow has the distinction of being both the longest and fastest portable electronics project I have ever done. I originally started making a C64 laptop in the fall of 2006, and kept pecking away at it every so often. Finally, a few weeks ago, I said "screw it" and started over.

C64 in a laptop case: Benheck has outdone himself
CrunchGear —
... Mr. Benheck has done it again. He dumped a fully-working Commodore 64 inside a laptop case that looks like it came out of a copy of Byte magazine circa 1989. He began by shaving down all the extraneous ports and inputs and even pulled off the power supply, making something that was 15″x10.5″. He then stuff it in with a 15″ LCD screen and then stuffed in a real C64 keyboard. ...

Commodore 64 laptop from the House of Heck
Tech Digest —
The irrepressible Ben Heck has come up with another gem, this time in the incredibly old school shape of a Commodore 64, only now it's a laptop. It's got the best part of all the original innards, minus the odd bit shaved off to actually get it to fit into foldable form, and sits pretty, if clunky, with a 15" LCD and original on/off rocker switch on the side. Take a look at BH's site for a better glimpse of how the magic happens but personally my favourite touch is the use of beige to really give it that 1980s computer effect. Good work once ...

He used an original C64C motherboard since it was the final and smallest revision and coupled that ...

You really need to check the video (below) to see the machine in action (despite the SD cards, the game load times are still tortuously long). The clip reminds us of something else, too — how the hell did we ever manage to use those awful Atari joysticks? I hated them the first time round, before my teenage years brought on incurable RSI.
