Call of Duty World at War in Beta
Zatz Not Funny! —
Over the weekend, Activision began emailing CallofDuty.com members beta invitations to World at War, the latest Call of Duty installment. World at War trades in CoD4’s modern warfare for a return to a World War II backdrop. The beta is currently limited to Xbox 360 online play, with PC beta invites to follow. PS3 owners will just have to wait for the official launch next month. Which is partially why I corrected a recent error in judgment… and picked up a replacement Xbox.
CoD4 veterans will have no problem picking up the World at War controls - ...
World At War 360 Beta Launches, PC Beta Coming Soon [Call Of Duty: World At War]
Kotaku —
[image] October 13th, 2008...a day that shall live in relative infamy as Treyarch and Activision announce the launch of the Xbox 360 multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: World at War. The beta allows players to play as one of four different factions in four different game types across three different maps. Players can still acquire a beta token for a chance to enter by pre-ordering the title from their local GameStop or registering at Callofduty.com . A PC beta should be launching in the near future. Yes, I realize this happened yesterday, but seeing as the majority of Kotaku ...
OhGizmo! Review - Call of Duty: World At War
OhGizmo! —
By Luke Anderson
I’ll be the first to admit that the whole “World War II” game concept has been overdone. I’ve lost count of the sheer number of titles with that exact theme that have been released in the last few years. That’s not to say that they’re all bad games, it just makes you wonder when a game franchise lasts longer than the war it’s based on. But I digress. I’ve been playing the latest installment of Call of Duty for a little while, and it’s about time that I shared my thoughts.
The first thing you’re going to notice when you get ...
An experiment in using tech abroad
VentureBeat —
My first trip to Berlin this week was an experiment for me in using technology abroad. While road warriors can set up their gadgets for easy travel, I hadn’t done so before. My experience was pleasant, though not without some hiccups, and generally much better than I expected.
I was in Berlin to give a speech to game developers. Before the trip, I bought print travel guides to Berlin and checked out a history book from the library, but there were tons of web sites with useful tips. One of the more interesting was a virtual Berlin site with 360-degree photos that let me ...
It's Jack Bauer! On Call of Duty!
TV Squad —
I was playing Call of Duty: World at War with my son the other day (hey, I'm the cool mom), and he said, "You know, that sounds like Jack Bauer." I listened, and sure enough, that unmistakable "Fire!" was indeed Keifer Sutherland, a.k.a. Jack Bauer on 24.
It's always fun when stuff like this happens, where you recognize a beloved TV character's voice elsewhere. I surfed around YouTube and found a video of Sutherland in the recording studio, along with Gary Oldman, who played James Gordon on The Dark Knight, among dozens of other films. Continue reading ...
Hands On with GlideTV
Zatz Not Funny! —
GlideTV Navigator is the latest entrant into the HTPC, over-the-top video space. And, after several days with a review unit, two things have surprised me… in a very positive way.
First off, I experienced none of the touchpad lag or jerkiness I’ve previously encountered ...
