... seen yet in a portable N64 mod. It's got all the buttons on a traditional N64 controller, which is no small feat, and manages to evoke the same toy-like plasticky design aesthetic as the original console. The only caveat? No batteries. The case is too small to hold an internal battery, although SifuF notes that you can clip an InfoLithium battery onto the back in addition to the standard 7.2v supply it was designed for. SifuF's portable N64: the Nintendo Sixtyfree Lite-R
Boing Boing Gadgets —
Unlike most portable console mods, Ben Heck forumer SifuF's Nintendo Sixtyfree Lite-R doesn't look like a dictionary-like slab of plastic and particle board when viewed in profile. In fact, it's all very svelte, considering the console from which its guts were omphalically plucked... although that likely has a lot to do with the fact that SifuF didn't opt to include a battery pack, making this portable N64 a little less so.

Other than that, it is small enough to enjoy the N64’s one good game (Golden Eye) almost anywhere you like (that has a power source). Though it was long ago, I still regret the day that I decided that an N64 was a smarter choice than a Playstation. If it had looked like this, however, I might have felt a little better about it.
