ASUS looking into Android for Eee Phone and Eee PC
Engadget —
There's not a lot of meat here, but we like where it's headed: ASUS CEO Johnny Shih talked up the company's "two-pronged" approach to mobile devices last night, which apparently includes a unit that can be "put in the pocket, play MP3s, offer GPS services, works like a PDA and offers Mobile TV altogether" -- with the other prong being the Eee PC, we would guess. When asked ...
Asus to make an Eee phone with Android?
Unwired View —
The fact that Asus is planning to release at least one Android handset this year is no longer a surprise.
What might be surprising, though, is that the Taiwanese company also wants to come up with a handset under the Eee brand (you know, those small and affordable notebooks).
And to make it all even more interesting, this Eee Phone might be running on – yes – Android.
TechRadar reports that Johnny Shih, Asus’ CEO, talked about the company’s intention to build easy to use pocket-sized devices that:
“play MP3s, offer ...
Asus reportedly looking to make an Android-based Eee PC
Boy Genius Report —
It looks like Asus is keen on using Android for more than just its mobile phones. Asus CEO Johnny Shih has begun openly discussing the possibility of selling an Eee PC that features Google’s open-source OS. Since its launch, hackers have been more than willing to put in the time and effort to port Android to a multitude of computers, netbooks and mobile phones. Seeing this, it’s only natural that a company like Asus would want to cash in on the demand for Android. Shih also mentioned Asus aspires to have a product that can be “put in the pocket, play MP3s, offer GPS services, works like a PDA and offers mobile TV.” Sounds good to us Asus - make ...
Asus considering Android for Eee PCs, or Eee Phone
Liliputing —
After the Asus press event yesterday the folks at TechRadar asked Asus CEO Jonney Shih if the company was considering using Google Android for any upcoming devices. And he said… maybe.
Apparently asus is considering the possibility of using Android for upcoming Eee PC models or the Eee Phone. But there’s a big difference between considering and actually using. We’ve already seen that it’s possible to run Android on a netbook, but the OS isn’t really designed for netbooks at this point and there aren’t many full desktop apps (like office document editoros) for the OS yet.
So I suspect it’s more ...

Johnny Shih, el CEO de Asus, ha anunciado hoy, en una de las primeras grandes noticias del CES 2009, que Asus está buscando lanzar un teléfono (¿el Eee Phone?) que pueda ejecutar Android.

ASUS: Yeah, We HAVE Thought About an Android Eee PC
AndroidGuys —
Word coming out of CES is that ASUS is in fact thinking about putting out an Android based Eee PC. According to a post over at TechRadar, ASUS CEO Johnny Shih claims the company is looking into using it (Android), either with an Eee PC or the Eee Phone. Well, duh.
We’d hope at a minimum that this is what ASUS had in mind when considering joining the Open Handset Alliance. It’s all good though, just giving them a hard time. In seriousness, an official Android Eee PC might be about the coolest netbook around.
This brings us to this week’s question… Would you buy an Android netbook? ...
