Has Amazon Bungled Kindle's International Launch?
Fast Company - Technology —
I wrote with careful enthusiasm about the rumor of a U.K. Kindle last week. But today Amazon's surprised everyone with the Kindle International edition...and it's time to be way less enthusiastic about the product. The pricing is a bit of a mess. According to Amazon's own PR the Kindle is the "most wished for, most gifted and #1 bestselling product" in Amazon's inventory, and that is obviously why it's taking the device overseas--to mine for more money. The International edition of the Kindle, with 3G global capabilities, costs $279 while the regular U.S.-only Kindle 2 has dropped to $259. The international roaming 3G is supplied by AT&T and its army ...

Amazon drops the price of the Kindle 2, international version coming October 19th
Boy Genius Report —
Those of you who have always wanted a Kindle 2 from Amazon but never pulled the trigger citing its cost have little excuse not to break out the plastic this morning. The 2nd generation E-Book reader has benefited from a price drop. Shedding $40 off of its price tag and standing firm at $259, Amazon shouldn’t have too much of a problem obtaining a decent boost in sales. Of course there’s the fact that it only has a CDMA radio and can’t download books while abroad, but that’s just a sacrifice you’ll have to make… Or will you? No, because Amazon has announced that come October 19th, it will be selling the Kindle with ...
