We've got one sweet teaser just few days before Christmas, and it's the new hot rumor of T-Mobile G2 Android phone.
I thought the G2 phone is just another prank to crank up Android hotness in this year's chilly holidays, since there haven't much of talk about Google's open source mobile platform.
But BGR got a tip on the information of G2, ...

... system. The release date is set to be the 26th January, 2009, although there are contradictory statements from different sources.
It is difficult to comment on such vague rumours, but it is not hard to image a second HTC Android-based phone. Design will be an issue, following the not-so popular look of the current device. HTC will have to broaden its market in order to succeed with more sales, and not continue restricting the international market.

So, that’s the latest. As you can see by the mockup provided at BGR, even if the device looks half as nice as it appears, it will still provide more style and appeal than the current G1. I’m still chaffed about the G1… can’t understand how that made it out of HTC’s factories and into T-Mobile stores.

Perhaps this is the phone that will give iPhone lovers a Linux-based alternative? As everyone is reporting, lots of people dislike the G1 because, with the slideout keyboard and touchscreen, it doesn't seem to know if it wants to be the iPhone or the BlackBerry.
The G2 would clearly make it more iPhone-ish.
Gizmodo says we're to expect this device in mid-May, which is a delay of months over the original reports that had the G2 arriving in January and then April.
