The problem at hand is that some users are experiencing the microphone cable overheating which Acer says happens after the left palm rest is subject to repeated and extreme pressure. If you’ve recently purchased an Acer Aspire laptop, you’ll want to check out Acer’s online notice of a product recall for certain models. It seems that some of these laptops have a microphone cable which may overheat when extreme pressure is applied repeatedly on the left palm rest, causing the casing to become deformed. The models affected include the Aspire models AS3410, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ and AS3810TZG manufactured before September 15th 2009. In the affected units the microphone cable may overheat when extreme pressure is applied repeatedly to the left palm rest. As a result, the unitҳ case may become deformed and the system may malfunction.
Acer has voluntarily instituted a safety recall program to proactively replace the microphone cable in the affected units to eliminate any risk of overheating.

Acer over the weekend issued a voluntary safety recall for several Aspire notebook models that the company warns could overheat under specific conditions.
According to Acer, affected models include the AS3410, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ, and AS3810TZG manufactured prior to September 15, 2009. Said models suffer from a defect whereby the microphone cable is prone to overheating when "extreme pressure is applied repeatedly to the left palm rest."
