The lights are designed to be installed in hallways leading to escape routes, and in the event of an emergency they use LEDs to project a glowing, pulsing halo on the floor which clearly indicates which direction you need to head for safety. It’s a simple enough concept, and it makes me wonder if the same idea could be implemented using fiber-optic embedded carpeting to clearly indicate an escape route.
