Pretec Announces Bigger, Faster Memory Cards
OhGizmo! — ... of up to 100MB/s. Now unfortunately the new SDXC cards aren’t compatible with SDHC, since they use the exFAT file system instead of FAT32. So the cards simply won’t work in your digital camera at the moment. But with future SDXC capacities expected to eventually reach 2TB, there’s no question the new format will become the standard in prosumer digital cameras. And not surprisingly, there’s currently no pricing info available for either card. [ Pretec 32GB SDXC & 666X CF Cards ] VIA [ SlashGear ] ...

The 666x CF offers a 100MB/s speed, approaching the theoretical maximum speed of CF specification, which is 133MB/s. Pretec’s 666x CF will be available in capacities from 4GB to 64GB. Along with the 666x CF, Pretec brings us another world’s first, a 32GB SDXC memory card. Pretec’s 32GB SDXC has up to 50MB/s speed. [pretec 1|2] ...

Pretec Shows 32GB SDXC Card at PMA
I4U News — ... says speeds could ultimately go as high as 300MB/sec. The biggest catch to the SDXC format right now is that there are no devices on the market that use the cards. However, now that cards are showing up I am betting we see products supporting SDXC come from manufacturers. SDXC and SDHC are not compatible with each other. Once speeds get higher and the 2TB capacity debuts I wonder if high0end DSLRs will start to use these small cards rather than the CF cards, they favor now. First SDXC Card Is The World's Fastest, Only Holds 32GB [Sdxc]
Gizmodo — ... The SHDX standard claims a maximum capacity of 2TB, with read/write speeds of up to 104MB/s. There's no doubt that, at 50MB/s, Pretec has achieved impressive speeds, but the company probably should have waited until they could put together an SDXC card with a greater actual capacity than existing SDHC products. Still, to see an actual product so soon after the standard was announced is heartening, although Pretec hasn't yet hinted at a price or release date. [Pretec via ...
