Update: OS 10.6.2 now working on Atom processors
9 to 5 Mac - Apple Intelligence — Last week, there was a bit of a fuss made over prominent Hackintosher Stell's contention that new 10.6.2 beta builds were killing support for Atom chips.  It appears that fears of the loss of Atom's support were unfounded because the latest developer build (10C535) re-enables support for Intel's Netbook processor. Stell says: Wow, didn’t expect to get linked all over the internet for this damn post. Anyways, in the latest development build Atom appears to have resurrected itself zombie style in 10C535. ...

Gone yesterday, here today; Atom support back in dev seed
Infinite Loop — ... The source of the news, who was quite surprised that their post received all the attention it did, is now reporting that the most recent build of OS X 10.6.2, 10C535, has seen the rise of Atom support from the ashes like some sort of software phoenix. That's right, everything is back to normal, nothing to see here, everyone can go back to running Mac OS X on their underpowered baby laptop. ...

Latest Mac OS X 10.6.2 beta build brings back Atom support
Engadget — Well, it looks like reports that Apple might be killing Atom support in the next Snow Leopard update may have been slightly overblown, as the latest developer build of OS X 10.6.2 (10C535) has apparently restored support for the processor and simultaneously brightened the spirits of hackintoshers the world over. What's more, there doesn't appear to be any explanation for the switch-a-roo from Apple which, as Electronista notes, could indicate that it was simply a bug or a temporary measure -- although it does of course also mean that Apple can just as ...

Snow Leopard Update Will Not Kill Hackintoshes
Wired: Gadget Lab — ... but nothing is concrete until the final version of 10.6.2 is out. So we will wait and see what the final release brings. Our guess is that the Atom-based hackintoshes will continue to work just fine, as these machines hardly cut into Apple’s sales: Anyone who hacks one together just to have a cheap Mac is unlikely to drop a grand on a real MacBook anyway, and I’d guess that most hackintoshers already have a Mac and are just doing it for fun. 10.6.2 kills Atom and other news: ...
