FTC investigators are still looking at Intels business practices, this time relating to the chip makers ongoing lawsuit with Nvidia, according to a published report. This comes less than a month after Intel and AMD settled their long-standing legal dispute that results in a $1.25 billion Intel payment to AMD. - Intel maybe have settled its legal disputes with rival Advanced Micro Devices, but the giant chip maker apparently is still being investigated by federal regulators.
The Federal Trade Commission reportedly is reviewing Intels legal
wrangling with graphics chip maker Nvidia, which like AMD is claim...

AppliedMicro formerly known as Applied Micro Circuits is planning to put its engineering efforts to creating energy-efficient semiconductor devices, bringing the company into closer competition with the likes of Intel, Samsung, Qualcomm and AMD. The market is seeing a rebound after a difficult start to 2009, thanks in large part to the demand for chips for con-sumer electronics and wireless devices. - Applied Micro Circuits has a new name and a new direction.
Company officials announced Nov. 30 that the new name is AppliedMicro, and that they are looking to push farther into the semiconductor space currently dominated by the likes of Intel, Samsung Electronics, Qualcomm and Advanced Micro Device...

Asus newest netbook, the Eee PC 1201T, features a 1.6GHz AMD processor, a 12.1-inch display and an ATI Radeon graphics chipset, according to published reports. While pricing is still unclear, its specs beg the question of whether its really a netbook. - Asus has introduced a new netbook that invites the question:
What exactly is a netbook?

Asus reportedly launched the Asus Eee PC 1201T at an event
in China, and Netbook
Italia is reporting its specs as including not an Intel Atom processor,
like most netbooks, but a 1.6GHz Advanced ...

Intel, Samsung, AMD Fare Well in Tough Semiconductor Market, iSuppli Says

The global semiconductor market is expected to exit 2009 with a revenue decline of 12.4 percent, according to iSuppli. But while that will mark one of the most difficult years for the industry, it isn't as bad as iSuppli had predicted earlier in the year, when the forecast was for a revenue fall of more than 20 percent. Intel retains its top spot, and No. 2 supplier Samsung will be the only top 10 supplier to post a profit. AMD's strong performance in the microprocessor space helped the company limit its revenue losses. - The global semiconductor market may be wrapping up one of its worst years
ever, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been, according to market research
company iSuppli.
In numbers released Nov. 23, iSuppli analysts said 2009 revenue will fall by
12.4 percent more than $32 billion compared with ...
